So, we made it!

11 February 2013

Just a quick 9 hour flight to Frankfurt and a one and half hour layover (with a 6 hour delay added in) and we arrived in Chisinau.  Neither of us slept on the long flight...arrghhh.  Andy took this picture of our Delta plane in Atlanta before we left.  Friday night, our power went out and since we were tired, rather than call the landlady, we just went to bed.  She fixed it right away the next day.  On Saturday, we got a cell phone, bought groceries, looked around at the melting snow, and then had a dinner with Gene Mitchell and Liz Bibb, who graduated from Mercer last year and are here doing Fulbrights.

On Sunday, we went to have a look at the city center and eat pizza.  Andy took these pictures and played on a playground with some kids that could not understand why he does not understand Russian.  The pictures are of Stefan cel Mare si Sfint--Stephen the Great and Holy--the patron of Moldova and of the Orthodox Cathedral.

Monday we started our homeschool plan.  Since much of my work is in the afternoon/evening we are on modified schedule here.  Andy's bedtime is midnight and we get up at 10...makes the jet lag a little easier.  The he does a half hour each of Math, Reading, Violin, Phonics, Art, and Computer Math.
